Video Editing Tools
The editors, clip makers, caption tools and avatar apps shluchim use, with prices checked October 2026.
On this page
The tools members actually name when someone asks for a reel, a clip from a shiur, or subtitles. Prices and plans were checked on the vendors' sites on October 21, 2026. For workflows (event reels, shiur to clips, generated video) see Video Creation.
Editors and clip makers
| Tool | What members use it for | Cost and notes |
|---|---|---|
| CapCut | Quick reels, AutoCut recaps from clips and photos, auto captions, editing by transcript | Free to start, paid upgrades. Its menu now includes AI video from Seedance 2.5 and Gemini Omni. |
| Opus Clip | Long video to short clips; "delete text and the video cuts accordingly" (August 2026) | Free with watermarked captions; Starter $15/month; Pro $29/month adds AI video B-roll. Text-based editing starts at Starter. |
| Vizard | Clips from long videos when other sites cap upload length | Free: 60 minutes a month, 720p, watermark. Paid plans start at 7,200 minutes a year (600 a month), billed yearly. |
| Captions | Auto subtitles, AI edits, B-roll, translation and lip-dub | Max is $24.99/month on iPhone. Captions in 100+ languages. A member said Hebrew works (November 2025); the vendor does not list Hebrew by name. The $11/month price in older notes is out of date. |
| Descript | Edit video and audio by editing the transcript; fix a few spoken words with an AI voice | Free to try; paid upgrades. |
| Riverside | Recording a class or podcast, cleaning up Zoom recordings and cutting silence (July 2026), Magic Clips | Free to start. |
| VideoLeap | Phone clips to an Instagram reel; "best I've seen" (November 2025), limited tracks (October 2026) | Made by Lightricks, an Israeli company based in Jerusalem. Older notes calling it Chinese were wrong. |
| YouTube Create | A free phone editor suggested as a CapCut alternative (January 2026) | Free, no ads. |
| Google Vids | Slides to video, AI avatars and voiceovers | Part of Google Workspace; avatars and voiceovers in 24 languages. |
| Edits | Instagram's own editing app | Free. |
| GoPro Quik | Auto-edits from phone footage (October 2026 suggestion) | Check the app for current pricing. |
Also named in 2025 lists without reviews: Kapwing, Clipchamp, Pictory, Gling, Filmora and VEED.
AI agents that edit
New in September and October 2026, and moving fast:
- Claude Cowork downloads a video and cuts excerpts at transcript timestamps; with Opus 5.5 a member had it edit a full event video from 73 clips.
- Tab, Instinct and Meta's Muse, personal agents that live in WhatsApp or iMessage. Members report Tab making 1- to 2-minute videos and subtitled clips, Instinct downloading YouTube segments by timestamp, and Muse cutting clips that Claude then captioned. Muse took 3 or 4 prompts to put English subtitles on a Hebrew video (September 2026). Read the privacy warnings on Personal AI agents before giving any of them your accounts.
Avatars
- HeyGen: free plan with 3 one-minute videos a month (watermarked); Creator $29/month; video translation in 175 languages and dialects on paid plans.
- Synthesia: AI presenter videos.
- D-ID: a Tel Aviv company; members preferred it to Synthesia in March 2026.
Generated video
Kling, Grok, Google's Veo 3.1 and Gemini Omni, Seedance, Higgsfield and Lumeta are covered on Video Creation. Sora is shut down.
Hebrew subtitles
- Captions and CapCut auto-captions: members found both usable for Hebrew, with checking.
- YouTube and Vimeo auto-subtitles, then fix the Hebrew by hand (July 2026).
- jemsubtitles, a shliach's script that shows dual subtitles on JEM videos in Chrome. See Berel.me.
- For the transcript itself, Sofer.ai handles mixed Hebrew, Yiddish and English best.
Picking one
- One event, a phone, no time: CapCut.
- A weekly shiur into clips: Opus Clip or Vizard, or an agent if you already use one.
- Subtitles in several languages: Captions.
- Fixing what someone said, or a podcast: Descript or Riverside.
