Lovable
A web-app builder that turns a chat description into a hosted app; the usual first try for shluchim building a single-page tool or event site. Pro is $25/month for 100 credits, with a small free allowance.

Lovable builds a working web app from a description you type in a chat. It hosts the result for you at an address ending in lovable.app, with a built-in backend if the app needs one. For many shluchim in the group it was the first tool that made "build it yourself" realistic, starting in late 2025.

Pro and Business can be bought in larger credit tiers, up to 10,000 credits a month. Verified students and teachers get 50% off Pro for up to 12 months. There is no published nonprofit discount.
In March 2026 members reported that Lovable was free for about 24 hours, and used the window for a mini build-a-thon of tzedakah pushka apps.
What shluchim built with it
All of these loaded on 2026-10-21:
- My Charity Box, a personal pushka that tracks small pledges offline.
- Rashi Map, a map and timeline of scholars and texts.
- kiddushhachodesh.lovable.app, a Kiddush HaChodesh learning app.
- Rebbe's Vision, emails to officials on causes the Rebbe championed.
- Toronto Shabbos Times (App Store page).
- A year-end campaign dashboard, a Tzivos Hashem kids app and an SMS invitation preview, each for one Chabad House.
Two projects outgrew their lovable.app address: the Tzvi LaTzaddik poems site now lives at therebbespoet.com, and the illustrated Book of Esther moved to learningtanach.org.
Members' experiences, by date:
- January 2026: a memorial and yahrzeit site with photo galleries, a database and donations through the shliach's existing donation platform, built in two days for about $100.
- February 2026: a kids app built from prompts that ChatGPT wrote, which "used very few credits." Writing the prompts in another AI first is a common way to save credits.
- April 2026: a shliach in a country with six Shabbos-time zones got stuck on Yom Tov times in his first build of a zmanim app, rebuilt it on Lovable, and said it "worked much easier."
- October 2026: a member with no coding background rebuilt a ten-year-old project in five hours.
Not everyone was won over. In January 2026 a member called these tools "accelerators, not a replacement for robust architecture."
Strengths
- Fast: a first version in minutes, deployed with a link you can share.
- Decent design out of the box.
- Built-in Stripe payments, using your own Stripe account (docs).
- GitHub sync: Lovable can create a GitHub repository for a project and keep it in sync both ways, so you own a copy of the code (docs).
Watch out for
- Payments and logins are where the risk is. Lovable makes it easy to add Stripe, user accounts and a database. The group's rule still applies: anything with logins, a database of people or payments needs a real developer's review before launch. Never paste a Stripe key into the chat; Lovable's own docs say to enter it only in the Connect Stripe form. See Vibe Coding.
- Existing code. Lovable cannot connect to a GitHub repository you already have; Git sync always creates a new one. You can upload an existing project as a ZIP file instead.
- Credits run out mid-project. Each change costs credits. Plan the whole feature in one message rather than many small ones.
- Get a second opinion. In April 2026 a member described having Claude in Chrome test his Lovable site "top to bottom" and write the fixes as prompts to paste back into Lovable.

What changed in 2026
- Importing existing code. The 2025 complaint that "you can't connect the existing repo" is now half true: connecting still is not possible, but uploading a ZIP is.
- Pricing moved to credit tiers. Pro and Business now come in tiers from 100 to 10,000 credits a month.
