Grok
The Grok assistant and the Grok Bot agents, from the xAI team now under SpaceX; chat is free to try, Grok Bot starts at $30 a month, and members praise its speed and voice but not its security model.

Grok is the AI assistant first built by xAI, Elon Musk's AI company. In 2026 xAI became part of SpaceX, and its website now carries the SpaceXSI name. You use Grok at grok.com, in the iPhone and Android apps, or inside X (formerly Twitter).
Until mid-2026 the group knew Grok mainly as the model that refused ordinary prompts less often than the others and wrote with a looser tone. Since August 2026 the talk has been about Grok Bot, its always-on agent product.

The plans now bundle Grok, X and the Cursor coding tool in one subscription (the combined plan was announced October 12, 2026). Older names you may see in the chat, such as SuperGrok and SuperGrok Heavy, refer to plans from before this change.
The current model is Grok 4.7 (September 21, 2026), after Grok 4.5 (July) and Grok 4.6 (August). In July 2026 a member called Grok 4.5 "very, very good and very cheap"; no one in the group posted tests.
Grok Bot
Grok Bot (launched August 11, 2026) gives you AI "teammates," in SpaceXSI's word, that have their own cloud computer, sign in to your apps and websites, and keep working when your laptop is closed. You can show a Bot a task once and it saves it as a routine. You talk to it from the Mac or Windows desktop app or the iPhone app (x.ai/bot).
Two facts from SpaceXSI's own FAQ matter for a Chabad House:
- All your Bots share one computer, with the same files, browser and logins. Isolation is per user, not per Bot. A Bot doing your social media can reach whatever the Bot doing your donor follow-up is logged into.
- Usage is weekly, with extra use billed by tokens.
What members reported (August to October 2026):
- A shliach who uses it "for things where security is not critical" praised its speed, voice conversation and the long list of built-in integrations, and said simple things were missing (it could not delete messages).
- A member had Grok Bot lay out Chassidus class pages. Another set one up as a "chief of staff" that starts helper bots on different models and uses Gemini to check their work.
- In August a member pitched it for "a typical shliach that can't maintain their own system": expensive, but possibly cheaper than paying someone.
- In October the group admin listed Grok Bot with Gemini Spark and OpenAI's Dots as the big companies' first personal agents, "but it's not there yet."

What shluchim use Grok chat for
- Letters with personality. Preferred by some for casual or fun letters. See Letter Writing.
- Images other tools refused. A Grok-then-Nano Banana workflow worked when ChatGPT refused. For the reliable approach to community imagery, see Depicting your community in AI images.
- Short educational videos. A member moved from Sora to Grok in May 2026, and another recommended Grok for video in October. Grok's Imagine makes clips up to 15 seconds. See Video Creation.
- Voice. In December 2025 members found Grok's voice mode answered a bit faster than ChatGPT's.
- Google Docs and Sheets. SpaceXSI released a Grok add-on for Google Workspace in July 2026, plus add-ins for Excel and Outlook. No one in the group has reported on them yet.
What to watch out for
- Spreadsheet formulas. A member asked several AIs for a complex Google Sheets formula: "Grok terrible."
- Long documents. Members found it inconsistent on long-form work.
- Jewish-content details. It knows less than the big three about Chabad-specific material. Check names, dates and sources.
